Developed by the University of Georgia, Southern Frost Navel Orange is a cold-hardy citrus selection bred for reliable performance in the Southeastern United States. This variety produces large, seedless navel oranges with exceptional sweetness, rich flavor, and easy-to-peel fruit, making it an excellent choice for fresh eating and backyard citrus production.

Fruit Characteristics

Southern Frost produces medium to large oranges with bright orange skin, juicy flesh, and balanced sweetness. Fruit matures during the traditional navel orange season and holds well on the tree.​​

Growing Information

Southern Frost Navel Orange performs best in full sun with well-drained soil. While more cold tolerant than traditional navel oranges, freeze protection is recommended during severe cold events, especially for young trees.
